Why consider road bike insurance?
Road cycling is a great way to keep fit and explore, but travelling by road presents unique risks. For instance, a close pass from a car could lead to an accident, and you might need medical attention. Specialist road bike insurance can cover emergency dental costs and loss of earnings, helping you avoid financial strain while you recover.
Additionally, theft or damage is still possible, even if your bike is securely locked. Road bike insurance can prevent you from having to cover expensive repairs or replacements in these worst-case scenarios.

Your home insurance policy may cover your bike for theft or damage but not always for third-party claims when you’re on the road. You might want to consider specialist road bike insurance for additional protection tailored to cycling-related risks.
-
The insured value of your road bike depends on its age and purchase history. The value should be based on the RRP price if it’s up to 3 years old and was purchased new. However, if your bike is over 3 years old, its indemnity value should be used.
-
We understand that insuring more than one road bike can get expensive. This is why we have a multi-bike cover option, where you’ll receive a 10% discount on all bikes, excluding the one with the highest value.
-
Yes—road bike insurance through Cycleplan includes cover for competitive use and up to £250 of cover for non-refundable race fees.

Your bike is covered for use by immediate family members who permanently live at the address where your bike is insured. This can include your parents, spouse, partner, son, daughter, or siblings.
Whether you have a single or family bike policy, everyone in your household will be covered by the benefits selected free of charge. So, if you choose Personal Accident or Public Liability cover, you won’t need to pay additional fees to cover your family members.
Your bike wouldn’t be covered if something happened to it while it was in the hands of anyone other than your immediate family.
