Cycle to work day is a national event, set up by Paralympic cyclist, Dame Sarah Storey, she aims to get more people commuting by bike, the day has been set up to encourage beginners to try it out and hopefully realise it’s not that bad!
760,000 people in the UK cycle to work on a regular basis, according to census data, a figure that continues to grow, but with initiatives such as Bike 2 Work scheme and Cycle to work day, there’s no reason why we can’t have over 1 million regular cycle commuters in the coming years.
This year Cycle to work day want to double the number of cycle commuters saddling up and achieve half a million miles pledged! For this to happen, they need your help. Here are some of the ways you can make a difference:
- Promise to get in the saddle on September 4th by pledging miles for cycle to work day here: www.cycletoworkday.org
- Share www.cycletoworkday.org on your social media pages and encourage your friends, family and colleagues to sign up and get involved.
- If you know a wannabe cyclist in need of a new bike, let them know about the cycle to work scheme.
- Ask your employer to get behind the day by offering staff that ride a free coffee and croissant as part of Britain’s Biggest Bike Breakfast.
Don’t forget to pledge your ride!
We hope you’re planning on taking part this year! Show us your support and pledge to ride by clicking here!
