Valentine’s Day for the Biking-Mad Couple

If you’re lucky enough to have a partner who’s just as bike-mad as you are, it would be rude not to make Valentine’s Day a cycling-themed event!

Whether you want to head outside on your bikes, get away for the weekend, or snuggle up indoors and exchange gifts, we’ve got plenty of bike-themed ideas to make sure your Valentine’s Day is one to remember.

A bike ride for two…

We admit it, a bike ride might be an obvious choice but, for maximum romance, you need to plan your ride to perfection. Even if you’re riding down the most picturesque street, if you end up having to ride in single file, you may as well have gone for a solo ride!

We recommend cycling through a big park or a bridleway route. This way, it’ll be wide enough for you to pedal through side-by-side. We also suggest planning a mid-ride pit stop at a cosy pub for a drink and a portion of chips before you’re back on your way again – perfect!

Make a weekend of it…

With Valentine’s Day falling on a Wednesday this year it’s not exactly ideal if you wanted to get away for a few days. However, there’s nothing stopping you from celebrating a belated Valentine’s Day at a weekend, meaning you can really spend some time with your bike…oh, and your loved one of course!

We recommend scouting out a bike friendly hotel, so you’re not forced to leave your pride and joy outside – you might even meet some other cycling-mad couples away for the same reason you are. Plus, knowing you’ve got a spa and/or room service waiting for you after a long day of riding is pretty much as good as it gets!

Bike-themed gifts…

As much as people like to think that Valentine’s Day is all about the love, there’s no denying that there’s a certain pressure to get your other half at least a small token to remember the day.

We think a romantic bike-themed mug is a perfect gift to show you care, not to mention a coffee just before a ride always gives you that extra push! We particularly like these his and her’s mugs– if you can’t be a bit soppy on Valentine’s Day, then when can you?!

A tandem trip…

When you picture romantic cycling-themed activities, chances are you think of a couple riding a tandem. The novelty of a tandem bicycle never gets old, and when else can you indulge in a loved-up tandem outing?

Also, if you start to get tired, you can just let your partner pull you along to your destination – it’s a win-win!

The only thing left to do now is to start planning the romantic day! If you’ve got anything else planned, we’d love to hear about it on Facebook and Twitter. Happy Valentine’s!
